Codes and standards our tools refer to
We refer to Australian Standards by name, designation and clause number only, and show none of their text, values or requirements. Our NCC 2025 entries are summaries of ABCB material published under CC BY 4.0. Buy the full text of a standard from Standards Australia. How we use standards.
Platform
Every tool available to Australian structural engineers today. Each one states what it does and what it cannot before you start.
Draft design reports, certificates and specifications in minutes, citing AS / NCC references for you to check before you sign.
Ask about NCC 2025 in plain English and get an answer built from our summaries that shows which ones it used.
Pull the requirements out of a tender pack, sorted by category, with the lines it could not read listed for you to check. Then draft a response for you to finish with what your business has done.
Extract structural members from CAD drawings (DXF, PDF, IFC) and run completeness checks plus StructByAI's own screening heuristics. No check in this build is sourced from a standard.
Screen a site in one pass: every hazard it could assess for the address, and a plain "not assessed" for any it could not.
Why engineers trust it
An AI tool is only useful to an engineer if you can check it. Answers and documents name the sources they cite, and show what our check of them found. An answer can still rest on partial retrieval, so treat it as a starting point.
Answers are drawn from our summaries of NCC 2025 and our pointers to Australian Standards, and list the ones they used; an answer that cites none is refused. Where our entries don't cover your question, the AI is told to say so rather than guess.
Clause references are checked against our own entries (NCC summaries, and Australian Standards pointers that hold none of their text), not the published standards, and marked with what we found. When the check can't run, they are marked "Not checked".
A design value you didn't supply is left as a marked placeholder, and numbers with units the AI wrote itself are marked for you to confirm.
If the AI writes that a design complies, the sentence is put into requirement voice where possible, and otherwise flagged in a caution — or, in a certificate, removed. The judgement stays with the engineer who signs.
Workflow
Three steps. Drafts for your review. Sources you can trace.
01
Set up your project with location, structure type, and design parameters. Your account's country sets which standards the modules draw on.
02
Draft engineering documents for your review, ask questions about NCC 2025, or screen a site for the hazards our maps cover.
03
Review the draft and the standards it cites, check them against the published editions, edit as needed, and export to PDF.
National Reach
StructBy AI works from our summaries of NCC 2025 and refers to Australian Standards by name, designation and clause number only. It reads bushfire maps for New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania and the ACT and flood planning maps for Victoria and Tasmania, each where the map covers the site, and state variations only where our NCC summaries note them — confirm local rules with the relevant authority.
